Stage 1 of our amenities block on the top field is finally complete. After 20 years of talking about it, there are now toilets available at our top field, as well as a small storage room. A big thank you must go out to Jason McMaster and the building committee of Paul Ahern, Peter Foster, Stephen Chester and John Corey, who have worked on this project over the past two years. A big thank you also goes out to Peter 'Shrek' Howlett who was successful in submitting a government grant proposal that saw the club receive $83,000 towards the construction. With the assistance of Penrith Junior League, Penrith City Council, the building levy fund included with registration, and the members of the Emu Plains JRLFC community who have been involved with fundraising this year, we have been able to contribute another $75,000 towards the project to ensure the completion of Stage 1. In the coming years we will work towards building Stage 2, Stage 3 and Stage 4. Stage 2 will be a meeting room for committee meetings, coaches and managers meetings and small functions, as well as a place to display trophies and memorabilia. Stage 3 will be a canteen that will replace the site-shed we currently use, which superseded the old caravan canteen. Stage 4 will be a BBQ and awning allowing rain-free cooking and area for team functions. Committees, players and parents, will come and go through our great club but their legacy will remain in the bricks and mortar of this building as it develops over the next few years. Thank you once again to Jason McMaster - without his passion, drive and constant emails, this building would not be standing.
